Not for Our Glory

When we properly relate ourselves to God, we put ourselves in the background.  We wear the Lord's name to glorify Him not ourselves.  We shine to His glory not to be applauded.  We give of our means because we have given ourselves not to be seen of men.  We pray to be heard of God not to be acclaimed by others.  Now these personal questions:
Why attend church?  To worship God or to hold up our reputation?
Why construct a new church building?  To glorify God or to exalt ourselves?
Why give?  To please God or man?
Why seek a church office or position?  To serve God or to dignify ourselves?
If we follow a make believe religion to impress people, our only reward will come from people none from God ( Matthew 6:5 ).

He that does good for goods sake seeks neither praise nor reward, though sure of both at last.
