In The Pink

Ever wonder why you can't tolerate broccoli or brussels sprouts? You may be a "supertaster." Supertasters are people who have a high number of taste buds and are very sensitive to pungent (and, in particular, bitter) foods.  To find out if you're one of them, try this test: Swab blue food coloring on the tip of your tongue.  The dye will cover the tongue, but the fungiform papillae the structures on the tongue that house the taste buds will stay pink.  Punch a hole in the middle of a one inch square of wax paper; place it on the tip of you tongue. Then, using a magnifying glass and flashlight, count the number of pink dots within the hole.  Supertasters have dozens.  If this is you, try adding these veggies to soups they lose some of their taste and eat extra portions of veggies you enjoy.

Jesus Christ, my Intercessor,
you are praying for me,

your protective hand,
your loving guidance.
Thank you.  Amen.

The Prayer Expert

When Jesus had finished praying, one of his disciples said to him,  "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his followers to pray."  So Jesus told them, "Pray in this way . . . "  Luke 11:1-2
~
Prayer Expert,
it sounds so simple to ask you to teach me to pray.  It gets complicated when I put it into practice. Help me to keep praying, to keep asking you for help, and most of all, to love you and those for whom I pray.  Amen.

The Purifier

Divine Purifier,
forgive me for pulling back,
for resisting the refining process.
Give me the grace to surge forward joyfully,
knowing that you are purifying me.  Amen.

The Comforter

~ The Lord causes a lot of suffering, but he also has pity because of his great love.  The Lord doesn't enjoy sending grief or pain.  Lamentations 3:32-33                                           We're still alive.  We shouldn't complain when we are being punished for our sins.  Instead, we should think about the way we are living, and turn back to the Lord. Lamentations 3:39-40  ~ God who brings comfort, help me in my affliction, make me aware of your goodness and love, so that I can turn from the wrong paths, and know your comfort once again.  Amen.

The Big Time Operator

But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord; I say, "You are my God ." My times are in Your hand.
Psalms 31:14-15
~

Big Time Operator,
When I try to think of all the timing you're involved in every hour of every day around the universe, it goes beyond my comprehension.  When it comes to temporal matters, I don't understand your timetable.  I do understand, though, that you love me, and you don't withhold what I need. That's enough for me to understand. Amen.

Thank You Sitka
