The Good Shepherd

My sheep know my voice, and I know them. 
They follow me, and I give them eternal life, so that they will never be lost.  No one can snatch them out of my hand.  John 10:28

Good Shepherd,

thank you for your infinite patience.

I want to hear you.

I listen for your voice.

Sometimes I strain to hear you speak.

Is it because I want to hear you so badly

that I allow other voices to confuse me?

Help me, Good Shepherd, so that I'm tuned in to just your voice

and I won't listen to any other.  Amen.

My Guiding Light

Once again Jesus spoke to the people. This time he said, "I am the light of the world! Follow me, and you won't be walking in the dark.  You will have the light that gives you life."

Guiding Lights,

I commit myself to follow you

even when the darkness increases

because I know you're always with me.

I trust you not to let me walk in darkness. Amen.

POKE ME

Acupuncture may be the best way to ease chronic low-back pain. A 2007 study of more than 1,100 long suffering people found that having two half-hour sessions a week for five weeks reduced pain almost twice as well as treatment that combined medication, exercise and physical therapy.  And a study last year in the Archives of Internal Medicine found that real acupuncture and pretend acupuncture using tooth-picks on non-acupuncture points had positive effects.  Both were superior to conventional drug and physical therapy.

Divine Guide,

Forgive me when I try to tell you how to direct me on my pathway.

I stumble a lot because I get too far away from your light,

but thanks for grabbling me by the shoulders, hugging me,

and saying gently, "Here, this is the way. Walk in it."

The Faithful One

Faithful One,

make me want to hear your words,

give me the grace to open my heart,

and, God, show me the truth about myself,

no matter how beautiful it may be. Amen.

The Righteos One

But as He who called you is holy, you aslo be holy in your conduct, because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy."  1 Peter 1:15-16

Oh, Righteous One,

sometimes I feel unclean around you,

aware of my lack of perfection,

very much wanting to hide my nakedness.

Make me righteous, as you are righteous.  Amen.

The Divine Healer

Divine Physician, heal all my diseases, all my waywardness, and all my hardness of heart, so that I worship you in my body and in my inner being.  Thank you for caring about every part of my life.  Amen.

If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians.  For I am the Lord God who heals you.  Exodus 15:26
